Six Nations man to organize Indigenous hockey team for international tournament

Six Nations man Ryan Davis has announced that he is developing a First Nations hockey team to compete at the 2024 Dream Cup Nation Hockey Tournament.

Davis, father of 4, has a passion for sports within the Six Nations community. Davis spoke with CKRZ News about how he came across the event on Facebook one day and reached out to the organizer and inquired about an Indigenous team playing in the tournament.

The Dream Cup Nation is the first of its kind and is intended to be an international ice hockey tournament that celebrates and emphasizes the emergence of the sport in non-traditional hockey markets.

Davis says this is a good opportunity to involve more Indigenous athletes to compete under their own nation amongst other national teams.

The tournament is scheduled from April 23rd – 28th of 2024. It will be presented by CCM & The New Jersey Devils and will take place at American Dream ice rink in Jersey, New York.
