Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) announces pending changes to unsanctioned events policy

On December 22nd, 2023 a document was released by theĀ Ontario Lacrosse AssociateĀ (OLA) stating major changes are going to be made related to unsanctioned lacrosse events in Ontario.

The document stated that participation in any OLA unsanctioned event will result in suspension for the entirety of the 2024 season and the 2025 season as well.

Since the December 22 document, the OLA released aĀ revised statement on December 31Ā stating that there will be a pause to reassess its unsanctioned event policy for this 2024 season.

Lacrosse Canada also responded by saying Lacrosse Canada was not made aware of the OLA’s Non-Sanctioned Lacrosse Policy or the revision and does not feel the policy is consistent in executing its mission.

Many people on Six Nations are asking what is going on with the Ontario Lacrosse Association.Ā  This concern is rooted in the concern that lacrosse is more than a game as its rooted of culture and tradition and is still to this day practised as medicine.Ā CKRZ will be will be following this up as there are many voices who want to express their opinion as this story unfolds.
