Increasing input from youth a priority for newly elected SNGREC Chief

On Wednesday, the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council (SNGREC) held a media conference at 10:00 am in the council chambers, at the central administration building. It was the first media event of newly elected council and Chief.

CKRZ News was at the media conference along with other local news outlets while newly SNEC Chief Sherri Lyn Hill made several announcements which was also played live on Six Nations of the Grand River Facebook page.

Chief Hill provided information on her newly gained position as chief of SNEC. She also talked about the need to bridge the gap between the older community members and the younger community members to enable youth to have a say in what’s going on, and be heard by those who do. Hill said “I’d like a youth representative to sit at that table, because myself and 12 councillors don’t have all those answers”.

Hill finished the conference by saying the youth input would be great because they are the next generation.
